Edward C. Ahrens set to receive Idaho State Bar Distinguished Lawyer Award

July 16, 2018-Edward C. Ahrens of Boise will receive the Idaho State Bar’s highest honor – the Distinguished Lawyer Award – July 18 during the Idaho State Bar Annual Meeting in Sun Valley. Ahrens received his undergraduate and law degree from the University of Idaho. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar Taxation, Probate & Trust Law Section, a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a member of the Idaho Community Foundation, and former Law Advisory Council member for the University of Idaho College of Law. Ahrens has been recognized as one of the top estate planning attorneys in the nation. His civic activities range from membership in the Virginia Mason Hospital Foundation, to the advisory board of the Seattle Art Museum, and the capital campaign committee of the Sitka Tribe of Alaska.

The Distinguished Lawyer Award is given to an attorney (or attorneys) each year who has distinguished the profession through exemplary conduct and many years of dedicated service to the profession and to Idaho citizens.

Tyler S. Rounds selected as Idaho State Bar Outstanding Young Lawyer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 16, 2018-Tyler S. Rounds of Star graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2007 where he served as a member of Idaho Law Review. Upon graduation, he clerked for the Hon. Thomas J. Ryan of the Third Judicial District Court. Born in Boise and raised in Middleton, Rounds is a partner with the law firm of Lovan Roker & Rounds, P.C. in Caldwell where he focuses on family law, including but not limited to divorce, child custody, guardianship, adoption, and child protection. Rounds is a former officer of the Third District Bar Association and a former Governing Council member of the Idaho State Bar’s Family Law Section. He is also a graduate of the Idaho Academy of Leadership for Lawyers. A founding member of the Caldwell Young Professionals, Rounds volunteers his time coaching youth sports (soccer, baseball, and flag football) and serving on the executive board of the Middleton Baseball Association.

The Outstanding Young Lawyer Award recognizes young lawyers who have provided service to the profession, the Idaho State Bar, the Idaho Law Foundation, and to the community, and who exhibits professional excellence.

Hon. Gene A. Petty selected to receive Idaho State Bar Service Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 16, 2018-Third Judicial District Court Judge Gene A. Petty of Caldwell will receive an Idaho State Bar Service Award on July 19 at the Idaho State Bar Annual Meeting in Sun Valley. Prior to his appointment to the District Court bench, Judge Petty served as chairperson of the Idaho Academy of Leadership for Lawyers, chairperson of the Professionalism & Ethics Section of the Idaho State Bar, and served on The Advocate (The official publication of the Idaho State Bar) Editorial Advisory Board. As a lawyer and now as a Judge, Petty mentors first year law students at the University of Idaho College of Law and Concordia University School of Law on the importance of ethics, civility, and professionalism.

Service Awards are given each year to lawyers and non-lawyers for exemplary service to the Idaho State Bar and/or Idaho Law Foundation.

Saviraj Grewal selected to receive Idaho State Bar Service Award

July 16, 2018-Saviraj “Savi” Grewal of Coeur d’Alene will receive an Idaho State Bar Service Award on July 19 at the Idaho State Bar Annual Meeting in Sun Valley. Grewal is a solo practitioner with the Law Office of Savi Grewal and is immediate past chairperson of the Idaho State Bar’s Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section. Highlights of her service also include: Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteer, past president of the John P. Gray Inn of Court, past president of the First District Bar Association, and Law Day volunteer.

Service Awards are given each year to lawyers and non-lawyers for exemplary service to the Idaho State Bar and/or Idaho Law Foundation.

Janell Burke selected to receive Idaho State Bar Service Award

July 16, 2018-Coeur d’Alene attorney Janell Burke will receive an Idaho State Bar Service Award on July 19 at the Idaho State Bar Annual Meeting in Sun Valley. Burke is a former chairperson of the Kootenai County Bar Association and former president of the First District Bar Association. She is former board member for the John P. Gray Inn of Court and served from 2011 to 2014 on the Idaho State Bar’s Professional Conduct Board. Burke is active in planning judicial retirement gatherings and various bar related events in the Coeur d’Alene area.

Service Awards are given each year to lawyers and non-lawyers for exemplary service to the Idaho State Bar and/or Idaho Law Foundation.

Peter C. Erbland set to receive Idaho State Bar Distinguished Lawyer Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 16, 2018-Peter C. Erbland of Coeur d’Alene will receive the Idaho State Bar’s highest honor – the Distinguished Lawyer Award – July 18 during the Idaho State Bar Annual Meeting in Sun Valley. A partner with Lake City Law Group, one of North Idaho’s largest firms, Erbland received his undergraduate degree from Saint Bonaventure University and his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law.. From 1993 to 1996, Erbland served on the Bar’s Professional Conduct Board. He served on the Idaho Pro Bono Commission from 2008 to 2011 and again from 2012 to 2013. Erbland is a former Chief Deputy Prosecutor for Kootenai County and former Chief of the Criminal Justice Division for the Office of the Idaho Attorney General. In 2016, he received the Idaho State Bar’s Professionalism Award.
