Admissions Ceremony Information

Updated as of 9/17/21

The following is the text of the 9/17/21 letter from the Clerk of the Idaho Supreme Court to successful bar exam applicants regarding changes to the swearing-in process on September 24, 2021:

In order to support COVID-19 protocols, including social distancing, the Idaho Supreme Court will be holding swearing-in ceremonies in several sessions on Friday, September 24, 2021.  Although the Supreme Court and Federal Court originally scheduled the Admission Ceremony as one large session for all admittees, the extent of the current surge in COVID cases and its effect, among other things, on Idaho’s health care system prompted the adjustment to smaller sessions and the cancellation of the joint session with the Federal Court. The ceremonies will follow COVID-19 precautions, including masks and social distancing.  Ceremonies will be held in the Idaho Supreme Court Building Courtroom, with approximately 30 admittees at a time taking the oath.  The sessions will occur at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. See the schedule below for your appointed time in which to be sworn in.  Please arrive at the Idaho Supreme Court Building first floor lobby 15 minutes prior to the assigned time, wear a mask covering your nose and mouth, and await instructions.

1:00 p.m.         A – E

2:00 p.m.         F – K

3:00 p.m.         L – P

4:00 p.m.         R – Z

In-person attendance at the Idaho Supreme Court will be limited to only the new admittees to the Bar.  However, Idaho Public Television will broadcast each session online, and family, friends, and the public may watch each session live on the Idaho Supreme Court website at Recordings of the ceremonies will be provided later on that same page.

When you arrive at the Idaho Supreme Court, you must have your admission fee ready. The fee may be paid by either a check or money order made out to Idaho Supreme Court in the amount of $25.00, or in cash; but you must bring exactly $25.00, as we will not be able to make change.  The Supreme Court will not permit payment via credit card at this time, and the Idaho Supreme Court does not have ATMs.

If you intend to be sworn in at the Federal Court, please visit their website at You may contact the Admission Clerk, Crystal, at 208-334-1976 with any questions.

If you are not able to attend your appointment to be sworn in at the designated times shown above, you may call the Idaho Supreme Court Clerk’s Office to schedule a time to be sworn in on a later date.   Contact information is shown below:
