Southeastern Idaho attorneys receive awards at the Sixth District Bar Annual Resolution Meeting

November 7, 2018-The Idaho State Bar will recognize three Southeastern Idaho attorneys at the Sixth District Bar Annual Resolution Meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 8. The meeting will be held at Juniper Hills Country Club, 6600 Bannock Highway in Pocatello, beginning at Noon.

  • Albert Matsuura will receive the Professionalism Award posthumously. Mr. Matsuura passed away in August 2018. Former Idaho State Bar President Kent Higgins had notified Mr. Matsuura of this recognition in May 2018. Prior to his death, Mr. Matsuura was the managing partner of Goicoechea Law Offices in Pocatello. He was past president of the Sixth District Bar Association and past chairperson of the Bar’s Workers Compensation Section. In 2010, he was bestowed the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association’s Walter H. Bithell Professionalism Award. A University of Idaho College of Law graduate, Mr. Matsurra was admitted to practice law in Idaho in 1985.

The Idaho State Bar Professionalism Awards are given to at least one attorney in each of Idaho’s seven judicial districts who has engaged in extraordinary activity in his or her community, in the state, or in the profession, which reflects the highest standards of professionalism.

  • Jared A. Steadman will receive the Denise O’Donnell Day Pro Bono Award. Steadman has worked for Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho for the last three years and he credits his company’s commitment to community service as one of the main reasons he donates his time to legal causes. Mr. Steadman is active with the Sixth Judicial District Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. He keeps at least one CASA case open at all times and takes on other pro bono matters when the need arises. Mr. Steadman graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law and was admitted to practice law in Idaho in 2007.

The Denise O’Donnell Day Pro Bono Awards are presented to the person(s) from each judicial district that have donated extraordinary time and effort to help clients who are unable to pay for services.

  • Retired Pocatello attorney Archibald W. Service will be recognized for his 65 year anniversary of admission into the Idaho State Bar. He was admitted to practice law on October 5, 1953. In 2003, Mr. Service received the Idaho State Bar Professionalism Award and in 2012 he received the Distinguished Lawyer Award. He is a graduate of the University of Idaho College of Law.
