This seminar covers the basics of defamation law and the complexities of defamation cases on the Internet.  Judge Peter Barton, Fourth Judicial District, and Joseph L. Meadows, Gordon & Rees of Alexandria, Virginia, a national expert, will present on issues of fact-versus-opinion statements in the social media context, which law governs, unmasking anonymous defamers in John Doe cases, removing negative reviews, Section 230 website immunity, and other relevant cyber laws in defamation cases.
