Recent Amendments to Idaho Appellate Rules
This is a reminder of recent amendments to the Idaho Appellate Rules that took effect on July 1 – particularly amendments to IAR 34 and 36. These updates are now required in all appellate filings. Please review the changes highlighted below to ensure your filings comply moving forward.
Per IAR 34(b): Word limits replace page limits for briefs
- Initial briefs: maximum of 14,000 words
- Reply briefs: maximum of 7,000 words
- A Certificate of Compliance is required and must appear immediately before the submitter’s signature
Per IAR 36: New formatting requirements
- Font: Times New Roman or Century Schoolbook, 14 point or larger
- Spacing: double spaced
- Margins: one inch on all sides
