Rising to Meet the Challenge: Pro Bono Responds to COVID-19

The National Celebration of Pro Bono was launched in 2009 because of the increasing need for pro bono services during harsh economic times. Every October since legal organizations across America participates in the National Celebration of Pro Bono to draw attention to the need for pro bono participation and to thank those who give their time year-round.

2020 has, without a doubt, forced even more Americans to face difficult times. The pandemic has resulted in widespread job losses and resulting economic hardship for millions of families. These people are facing evictions, debt collections, lack of access to health care, and food insecurity. In addition, the isolation forced by COVID-19 has led to an increase in child abuse and domestic violence, adding to the already staggering need for assistance with civil protection orders and family law proceedings.  During Pro Bono Week, the Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program would like to thank the many attorneys who have donated their time to meet the growing pandemic challenges. We appreciate your willingness to make the time to make a difference.
