Join us as we kick off the 2021 Idaho State Bar Annual Meeting!

Idaho State Bar President Donald F. Carey will begin the plenary session with an update on the Bar followed by Idaho Supreme Court Chief Justice G. Richard Bevan who will give us the State of the Courts.  We will then be introduced to the new dean from the University of Idaho College of Law, Dean Johanna Kalb.

The CLE session will be an address from our keynote speaker, Walter R. Echo-Hawk.  Mr. Echo-Hawk is an attorney author, former Tribal Judge and President of the Pawnee Business Council for the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma.  He will explore the impact of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) on the future of Federal Indian law. The Declaration prescribes “human rights” for Indigenous Peoples worldwide. As a result, Native American law and policy stand at the confluence of international and domestic law. From that vista, a brand-new legal framework can be seen. How will UNDRIP’s human rights principles affect Federal Indian law in the twenty-first century?  For more information on Mr. Echo-Hawk, please visit his website.

*Note – Each Annual Meeting Webcast CLE session requires separate registration or the purchase of a bundle.

** In-Person Attendance – You MUST pre-register to attend in person events as there will be a limited number of spots available that will be on a first come, first serve basis.  All in-person events will require attendees to follow the COVID protocols required by the Boise Centre in place at that time.
