Organization summary: The Idaho State Bar is a self-governing state agency charged with the regulation of the legal profession, including the administration of bar admissions, licensing, and lawyer discipline. The Idaho Law Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is the charitable arm of the Idaho State Bar. The Foundation’s main goals are to enhance the public understanding of the legal system, enhance the competence of lawyers, and provide access to legal services.Example of Duties
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Controller directs the financial affairs of the organizations, including interim and annual financial statements with supporting schedules, for management and leadership, including both internal and external users. The Controller is responsible for the organizations financial plans, reports, and policies, maintaining their accounting practices, internal controls, relationships with banking, lending and investments institutions, and maintenance of their fiscal records. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property, insurance, budgetary controls, and external audits. The position develops annual budgets, is responsible for cash management, grant management, administration of staff benefits, contracts, and other business affairs. The Controller participates as a member of the management team in the development and implementation of organization wide policies and programs that will contribute to the organizations overall success.Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Qualification Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- CPA preferred
- Experience: At least 3 years experience in management of accounting and financial controls internal controls and supervision/management of employees
- Demonstrated knowledge of accrual, fund accounting, financial reporting, and activity-based costing
- Demonstrated ability to develop and monitor internal controls and accounting systems
- Strong skills in computers, Microsoft Dynamics GP, valued general ledger software, spreadsheets, and other personal computer- based applications
- Excellent writing, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
- Excellent team and management skills, both as participant and leader
- Ability to prioritize, focus and manage projects
- Familiarity with non-profits and/or government sector preferred
