Certificates of Compliance
Requesting an Idaho Certificate of Compliance
The Idaho State Bar will provide certificates of MCLE compliance for the Oregon, Utah or Washington State Bars under the following conditions:
- The attorney is an active member of the Idaho State Bar and his or her primary practice of law is in Idaho.
- The attorney has completed his or her first Idaho MCLE reporting cycle and, if applicable, has completed his or her first Idaho MCLE reporting cycle following reinstatement to active status.
- The attorney has complied with the Idaho MCLE credit requirements during the reporting cycle immediately preceding the current cycle.
- If the attorney’s Idaho MCLE reporting cycle ends in the current year, the attorney must comply with the Idaho MCLE requirements before requesting a certificate for another state.
- The request is submitted within the other state’s licensing period.
Submitting a Cerificate of Compliance from Another State
The Idaho State Bar will accept certificates of MCLE compliance from Oregon, Utah or Washington State Bars as compliance in Idaho under the following conditions:
- The attorney has filed a Designation of MCLE Reporting State Form and the attorney continues of meet the qualifications.
- The attorney complied with the reporting state’s MCLE credit requirements during the reporting cycle immediately preceding the current cycle.
- The attorney has completed his or her first MCLE reporting cycle in his or her reporting state and, if applicable, has completed his or her first MCLE reporting cycle in his or her reporting state following reinstatement to active status.
- If the attorney’s MCLE reporting cycle in the reporting state ends in the current year, the attorney must comply with the reporting state's MCLE requirements before requesting a certificate for submission to Idaho.
- The attorney submits a current certificate of MCLE compliance from the reporting state (preferable dated within the last month).
How to Order an Idaho Cerificate of Compliance
To ensure the cerificate is current and accpetable in another state, wait until the licensing begins before requesting an Idaho certificate of MCLE compliance. Contact the MCLE Department by phone, email or fax. There is no fee and, unless otherwise requested, the certificates will be mailed to the attorney within a few days of the request.
