MCLE Attendance Verification
Before a course can be added to your MCLE attendance records, it must be approved for MCLE credit in Idaho. If you are not sure whether or not a course has been approved for MCLE credits, please use the the Approved Courses Search page to check the list of approved courses.
The Idaho State Bar does not have to receive any form of attendance verification for you to count an approved course toward meeting your MCLE requirements. Courses must be approved for Idaho MCLE credit, but inclusion of your name on the attendance records is not required.
If the course has not been approved for Idaho MCLE credit, you must apply for accreditation. Accreditation Application and Information. A course cannot be used to meet your MCLE requirements until it has been approved for Idaho MCLE credit.
Adding Approved Courses to the Attendance Records
If you want to have an Idaho MCLE approved course included on your Idaho State Bar MCLE attendance records, there are three ways to do it:
Attendance List Submitted by the Course Sponsor
This is the simplest and most reliable way to get your name on the ISB attendance records. Most course sponsors understand the importance of keeping good attendance information and will send this information to us if you ask. If the sponsor keeps track of attendance, make sure to always sign the attendance sheets. Your name should be clear and legible. Include your ISB membership number if you can. Ask the sponsor to send us a copy of the attendance list. With the sponsor’s attendance list in our files, we should not need to do any further checking on attendance even if your MCLE compliance is audited.
Sponsor Completes and Signs the ISB Sponsor Certificate of Attendance
If the course sponsor is unable to send an attendance list directly to us, please ask them to complete a Sponsor Certificate of Attendance form. Take a copy of this form with you to any courses where you are not sure about the sponsor’s ability to send us attendance verification. You can fill out the top portion of the form, but the sponsor must fill out and sign the information in the box. If you do not attend the entire course, remember to include information concerning the sessions/portions attended.
Attorney Completes and Submits the ISB Attorney Self-Verification of Attendance
If the course sponsor does not keep track of attendance or if you have difficulties getting the sponsor to certify your attendance, you can verify your own attendance by completing an Attorney Self-Verification of Attendance form. By submitting one of these forms, you are requesting that your name be added to the ISB attendance records. Although self-verification is not considered “official,” it allows us to help you keep track of your MCLE credits. Only use self-verification if you cannot get attendance certification from the sponsor.
Both verification forms are also available from the MCLE Department. If you need the forms faxed or mailed to you or you have any questions, please contact Annette Strauser or Kim Thompson at (208) 334-4500.
